Boss Babe Brunch 2025 Sponsor Spotlight: Welcoming Back Barnes & Thornburg
We’re thrilled to start spotlighting some of our amazing sponsors who make Boss Babe Brunch possible year after year. Their support isn’t just appreciated—it’s essential to the work we do and the impact we make. And today, we’re excited to kick things off by honoring a returning sponsor whose connection to our network is truly special.
We’re proud to welcome back Barnes & Thornburg LLP as a sponsor for Boss Babe Brunch 2025, taking place on June 1st! This year, our celebration is even more meaningful thanks to the incredible support of Angela B. Freeman—Partner, Intellectual Property (IP)/Patent Attorney, and Podcast Host—who played a major role in helping us officially secure our EMBOSS trademark. For us, this milestone is more than just paperwork—it’s a powerful step forward in protecting the heart of our brand. 💼✨
Meet Angela B. Freeman
Angela is a Partner in the Indianapolis office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP, an Am Law 100 firm. Her journey is as inspiring as it is groundbreaking. Angela began her legal career as a law clerk while attending evening law school, all while working full-time and raising a family. In 2023, she made history by becoming only the second African American/Black woman to be elected equity partner from associate in the firm’s history—the first in both the headquarters office and the Intellectual Property department.
Before her legal career, Angela spent over 15 years as a genetic and clinical laboratory biologist. That scientific background now informs her work as she helps clients secure intellectual property rights around the globe for highly technical subject matter in fields such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, biotech, fiber and optical communications, food and beverage, and renewable energy.
Angela’s practice also extends to IP agreements, due diligence, and trademark and copyright registration and enforcement. While she works with major corporate clients, Angela is especially passionate about educating and assisting women, diverse entrepreneurs, and small business owners in protecting their brands and business assets.
A Champion for Community
Angela’s impact extends well beyond the courtroom. She’s widely recognized as a diversity champion in both the legal and STEM fields, and has been named one of the 250 most influential business leaders in Indiana. She also hosts the award-winning podcast, The Freedom Forum with Angela B. Freeman, through the Indianapolis Business Journal, where she explores the intersection of business, race, and gender in Indiana.
Despite her many accomplishments, Angela proudly names her greatest achievement as being a mom to her college-athlete son. ❤️
We’re beyond grateful for Angela’s continued support and proud to have her and Barnes & Thornburg standing with us once again.
